[ARCHIVED] Homicide at 2530 E. North Street

On March 25th at 11:59 a.m. officers responded to 2530 E. North Street (Yorktown Condos) in reference to a welfare check. The complainant advised that no one had seen or heard from 37 year old Jacob Ryan Baltz for the past few days. Upon further investigation, the responding officer peered through the glass patio door and saw what he thought to be a person lying on the floor.

Forced entry was made into the apartment by the Greenville City Fire Department, and Baltz was pronounced deceased by Greenville County EMS. Investigators and Greenville County Forensics responded to process the scene.

Today, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office released that the death investigation is being classified as a homicide as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. Greenville Police detectives are actively investigating the case, and based on the information they have, they do not think that there is any threat to public safety or that this was a random act of violence.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME (27463).
