[ARCHIVED] Streambank Stabilization Work Moves to Falls Park

Boulders in the Reedy River

Crews are working to grade and stabilize 200 feet of eroded streambank along the Reedy River directly downstream of the Main Street Bridge.

The work involves "stone boulder toe armoring," placing a row of stones at the base of the bank parallel to the stream. The work is expected to last three to four weeks.

Geolifts and native planting stabilization are also scheduled for this month for 50 feet of eroded banks at a different Falls Park site in the lower end of the park.

The overall project encompassed five different sites throughout Falls Park, Cleveland Park and along the Swamp Rabbit Trail near the Andover Apartments.
