[ARCHIVED] 10/27/2015 - United Community Bank Ice on Main Announces Opening Date

United Community Bank Ice on Main announced today that Greenville’s only outdoor skating rink will kick off its fifth season on Friday, November 20 with an Opening Day Ceremony at 3:30 p.m. The ceremony will feature announcements from event sponsors, live entertainment and the ceremonial first skate, and the rink will officially open to the public at 4 p.m. United Community Bank Ice on Main will be open seven days a week, including holidays, through January 18, 2016.

“We are excited to bring Greenville’s favorite holiday tradition back for its fifth season,” Mayor Knox White said. “The City of Greenville and our partners for United Community Bank Ice on Main are planning many fun, family-friendly events at the rink. We encourage everyone to come out on Opening Day and help us kick off the holiday season this year.”

According to event organizers, the founding vision was that Ice on Main would be Greenville’s version of Rockefeller Center, and this season promises to pay homage to that vision in new and exciting ways, including an opportunity to travel to New York City. There will be numerous events to celebrate the fifth anniversary throughout the season, and several of the events will allow patrons to skate for only $5.

“United Community Bank is proud to return for a third year as the title sponsor of Ice on Main,” said Michelle Seaver, President, Greenville County of United Community Bank. “Skating at the rink has become a tradition for members of the Greenville community and we look forward to kicking off the fifth year of memories.”
