Cleveland Park Stables Ribbon Cutting
Tuesday, July 30, 2019
City officials and staff will be joined by representatives from Friends of the Reedy River and the Cleveland Forest Neighborhood Association for a ceremony to celebrate the transformation of the former Cleveland Park Stables property into a passive recreation space featuring an open lawn, walking path, native plant installations and a rain garden.
The five-acre extension of Cleveland Park was made possible by local philanthropist Jill Cox, who purchased the stables property in 2013 and donated it to the City with the stipulation that no structures be built on it. The City consolidated the 2.5-acre stables property with 2.5 acres of undeveloped City-owned property adjacent to it and began working with the Cleveland Forest Neighborhood Association to create a master plan for the combined site.
